Hello,
My name is Matthew Purdy, I’m the School Counselor at Horace Mann Middle School. I graduated WVU in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Child Development and Family Studies. I went on to pursue a degree in Counseling at WVU. I graduated with my Masters in 2018. This is my third year as a counselor in total but first year in Kanawha County. I love getting to talk with students and guiding them through challenges they face in their everyday life. I take pride in being able to provide counseling theory and techniques just like any mental health counselor who works in the community. Students will see me in the classrooms throughout the year so I can teach about different topics on mental health & college/career readiness. In my spare time, I enjoy working out, playing golf, hanging out with my dog Arya, visiting family & friends. I always try to stay active and strive to be the best me I can be.
