Bio: Olivia Boughton is a violist from Charleston, WV, starting her studies at the age of seven on violin. She received her Bachelor of Arts in contemporary viola performance at West Virginia University where she also earned a minor in World Music. In 2015, Olivia created “The Concert Closet”, a space in Gorby’s Music that provides the youth with donated concert black and white clothing for free, working on the honor system. This earned Olivia her Girl Scout Gold Award. Olivia has been in several chamber ensembles throughout her musical career, one of which were national finalists in the Music Teachers National Association competition in 2018. Olivia also completed one year at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee where she studied contemporary music performance. Olivia currently teaches 7th and 8th grade in-person strings at Horace Mann.
